Game submissions

When you submit a game, we store what you type into the form: the game's name and address, the descriptions, category, features, platforms, languages and price, the address of the page with our badge, and your email if you choose to give one. The email is optional and only the site owner sees it, to contact you about your game

Your submission gets a private status page with a long random address. Anyone with that address can see the status, so keep it to yourself

Badge and link checks

When you ask us to check your badge, and every night after your game is listed, our bot opens your page as WordleLikeBot/1.0. We store the result of each check: when it ran, what the page answered and which points passed

Votes

When you rate a game, we store your stars, a hash of a random ID from the wl_voter cookie and a salted hash of your IP address. The hashes let us keep one vote per person without storing the ID or the address itself

Rate limits

To keep spam out, we count submissions, badge checks, votes and sign-in attempts per salted hash of the IP address. The counts are deleted after two days

Visit counter

The public pages of wordlelike.games load a script from analytics.ahrefs.com, the visit counter of Ahrefs Web Analytics, and it reports each visit to Ahrefs, the address of the page included. As with any request to another site, Ahrefs also sees your IP address and your browser

The counter is not on the admin, and not on submission status pages: their addresses are private

Our cookies

• wl_voter: set when you rate a game, so you can change your vote later. Kept for a year
• csrftoken: set by forms such as Submit, to protect them from forged requests
• sessionid: only for the site owner while signed in to the admin

Server logs

Like any web server, ours writes standard access logs (address, page, time, browser), used only to keep the site running and safe
